‘Fun, Festive and Fundraising’ – the winning ingredients of St John’s Christmas market
The new look St John’s Christmas market attracted a hall full of festive Christmas shoppers, raising over £2,000 for charity. The amazing stall holders selling a wide range of handicrafts, home made food and gifts started setting up early in the morning. So when the doors opened, visitors were met by a tempting array of goodies.
Merrow Infants School opened the Market with some beautifully sung Carols.
For the first time, the Christmas Market had food and drink available outside in the car park; and it may well have been the aroma of burgers being cooked and wine being mulled that attracted so many passers by to pay the Market a visit.
Other highlights included a tombola and a very popular auction. A newly installed chip and pin machine helped shoppers who preferred not to use cash.
Charities who have benefited include Food Wise, Compassion UK and Christians Against Poverty
