CLINK Charity Breakfast

Around 25 of us gathered in Merrow Hall to hear Vic Laws MBE telling us about The CLINK Charity.

This fine organisation works within prisons to train prisoners in catering and hospitality.  Their skills are then put into practice in the public restaurants that the charity runs within the prisons; and fine skills they are - the Brixton Prison restaurant is consistently in the top 10 restaurants of London on TripAdvisor, and many individuals trained by The CLINK go on to work in top restaurants throughout the country. Above all, Vic described how the organisation then helps its former prisoners to build and grow their new lives, significantly reducing their risk of re-offending and returning to prison.

It was a most uplifting talk: Vic comes from a catering background, and it was wonderful to see how he has brought his talents to improving the lives of others. It was also a most enjoyable occasion: excellent company, and – of course – excellent bacon rolls!
