Saturday 29th July – Brookwood Cemetery Tour

An invitation to members of the Men’s Fellowship to join an outing to Brookwood Cemetery where we can enjoy an exclusive guided tour of the site. We will follow this with a relaxed lunch at a local pub.

Brookwood Cemetery is a beautiful Grade 1 listed Historic Park and is the largest cemetery in the UK and has been serving the community since 1854. With 220 acres, the grounds provide both a picturesque and tranquil setting for visitors 365 days of the year. 

The tour would be preceded by a short historical chat and prominent memorials will be visited.  The cemetery is large site split into two sections and we will only be able to see a portion of it. The organisers stress that visitors must be capable of walking over uneven ground and for the length of the tour. It is advisable to wear outdoor/stout shoes. Refreshments will be available on site. 

All tours commence at the Glades of Remembrance car park where there are toilet facilities. The tour guides are volunteers, and all walk monies go towards the Society's restoration fund. Numbers will be limited so please reserve your place without delay.

Timing:

  • to gather at St. John’s Centre at 9.50 for a 10 o’clock departure
  • transfer to Brookwood for the tour to start at 10.30 (lasting up to 2 hours)

Travel: our own volunteer drivers using their cars

Cost: £10/head to cover the Tour and transport costs

Lunch: at a local pub from about 12.45 to be paid by you individually
